Days 16 & 17 of my P90X/Body by Vi Challenge

Day 16= Rest Day for me (just because I was completely exhausted… I even went to bed at 8pm)

Day 17= another Epic Fail

So I have felt like crap all day. Sore throat, headache, eyes hurt, etc. It’s my sinuses I know. I plan on getting extra rest tonight & tomorrow morning since I am off.

At first I thought I would double up tomorrow. But I think now I will plyometrics(what I should have done yesterday or today) instead of yoga….good idea huh. LOL. Since I hate the yoga.

I ate good yesterday. Even drank a shake for lunch.

I had a shake for lunch today too. I ate too much at supper though.

I am now down 2 pounds in the past 2 weeks. I know I could be down a lot more if I were eating a lot better. I have to start drinking a shake for breakfast, having salad for lunch & a shake for supper. That will be my plan. I know I’ve been struggling with this nutrition the entire time. I plan on buying one of those little blenders next week so I can make better shakes like the oreo & twix ones I have recipes for. Cannot wait!

I want to talk about my measurements. Just because 2 pounds does not seem like very much but when I took my measurements Sunday night, I was amazed! As in I had to remeasure a lot…just because I could not believe it.

My waist(right around my belly button) has shrunk 1.25 inches

My lower belly(what I call my c-section belly) has shrunk 2.25 inches

my right thigh has shrunk 1/2 inch

my left thigh has shrunk 1 inch

my arms are still exactly the same but I can see the definition. I tried to take a pic but it didn’t turn out.

Very 1st belly pic again. Then 2 more that were taken Sunday night. When I stand & look in the mirror I see a lot of changes. However when I take pics, I don’t see it as much. I don’t understand that.

day 13= Saturday= Rest day

Day 14=Sunday=Epic Fail

Saturday, I would have done Kenpo. I worked 16 hours(as I did on Friday as well). I got home around 9pm & a few minutes later a friend called me up & asked if I wanted to hang out/drink…so I said sure. I don’t get to hang a lot these days. Seize the opportunity. Not only did I not work out, I drank until 1am…. So Saturday is considered my rest day.

Now Sunday….No, it was not an epic fail because I drank Saturday night…nope, not at all. I worked another 16 hours Sunday…yes, that’s a lot but my daughter’s birthday is coming up & I want to get her some really special things.

I was very emotional Sunday & sorta had a personal crisis. I was just emotionally exhausted by the time I got home after 9pm.  I went to bed instead of working out. So yes, it was an epic fail day.

Now TODAY is Monday= Day 15 & I did chest & back, but skipped Ab Ripper which means no more skipping Ab Ripper the rest of the week. Well, I did the very 1st exercise on Ab Ripper & that was it. And yes, I did work another double(16 hours) today. It is my last until next weekend however. Right now it is 10:32pm. I am finished with my workout & had my shower. I did not want to miss another day of blogging though.

So tonight I applied my fast forward technique to the Chest & back workout. Much better. Much less Tony speak. Now that I’m in my 3rd week, I am much more acquainted with the workouts & it is easier for me to just do them when I see the name posted at the bottom of the screen. Again, most of the time I am finished before they get started or just after. It’s amazing how much that guy talks!

Amazingly, I’ve eaten very well this weekend. Haven’t drank all the shakes I should but I’ve not overindulged..And today I had a granola bar for breakfast, salad for lunch, & 1 small helping of mashed potatoes with a little bit of gravy for supper. I also had a twix for snack. I wanted something sweet. I will not deprive myself ever.

I weighed in at the same weight from last Monday which is amazing considering how the scale yo yo’d all week. Now my measurements are a completely different story. I will talk more about them tomorrow when I have more time.

And the biggest achievement of the week…. I wore a pair of jeans today that used to be too tight. Already!

Day 11 & 12, Done & Over With!

also known as Thursday & Friday.

Thursday= P90X yoga

Friday= legs & back (I skipped ab Ripper)

I will once again tell you how much I hate the yoga…That’s really all I have to say about that. I only did 1 hour because I worked at the gym til 8 then watched Grey’s & started my workout at 9pm or a little after. Which put me showering & getting to bed after 10. Which would also be reason there wasn’t a blog post last night. I knew I had to get up early once again this morning for work so I needed my sleep.

 

Now, let’s talk about working at the gym….

That picture, that’s how I feel when I’m working at the gym. I really think I need to add some cardio to my P90X routine. For the days I do the muscle groups. I am not losing fast enough. As a matter of fact, I think I’m gaining. I really need to get strict with my nutrition.

Thursday, I finally made it to the store to get some milk for my shakes. I bought regular vanilla soy  milk this time. Usually I get vanilla almond milk. I cannot taste much of a difference. I did drink one shake yesterday for lunch. I ate breakfast & supper. Not good for me foods either. I know, that is my weight gain problem. I will keep trying.

So tonight(Friday) I did legs & back. I really enjoy legs but I pulled something a little too much tonight in my Right leg & it started to hurt to do some of the lunges. I pulled through though. I did sit out the wall squats because I have worked 16 hours & am tired. Right now as I type, it’s 10:23pm & I am probably going to work another 16 hours tomorrow. I can do this!

Something I learned tonight, fast forwarding helps.  When I would complete my reps & Tony keep droning on with the talking, I would fast forward through him. And when the pulls ups would come up, I would go ahead & start while he was talking. Usually I was done about the time they started. That tells you how much time Tony Horton wastes with his mouth.

Nutrition today… I had a shake for breakfast. then I had pizza for lunch. Supper was a yummy salad but then I had some garlic cheese bread & a few chips too. I was at work & I was hungry. I will do better tomorrow. I’m going to take my shakes with me. And I’m going to get some fruit to snack on. I think that will help bunches.

So wish me luck. Weigh in is Monday. I hope to lose another pound at least. But I can see changes in my body & muscle does weigh more than fat.

Today is Day 10

Yup, Day 10 of my torture aka P90X/Body by Vi 90 day challenge.

Only 80 more to go…ugh.

So today was Arms & Shoulders plus a little ab ripper.

I really pushed myself today. I did every workout except 1(and that was on the repeat). And I made it all the way through Ab Ripper!! Accomplishment, yea!!! I am still using 5 pound weights though. I plan on buying new weights next payday(May 14). I do more reps than them on the DVD in order to make up for my little weights. It appears to be working.

Major accomplishment tho..I woke up this morning after doing plyo yesterday & wasn’t sore!!! However by lunch time I could feel it  in my legs. So it’s true that if you stick with it, your muscles get better at taking the torture.

I can see definition in my tricep area already.

Once again I must stress, it was 9:30pm before I was done with my workout. Got in the shower by 9:40 & it’s a little after 10 as I write this blog post.  There are no excused. You can do this too!

Now my eating is still not under control. Bad, bad bad….Yes, I realize I got to get a handle on this. I am off to the store tomorrow. I am going to commit to my 2 shakes a day. Plus a huge healthy meal! Most likely a salad since I love the ones from the local Pizza Hut & they are the cheapest in town. I also want to eat more fruit. I buy this fruit tray at Walmart. Yes, it has a small cup of dip, but it’s sooo yummy. It’s a lot better than all the carbs I’m packing in right now. I have to straighten up my act. I vow to do it right now. Seriously, I promise. I can commit when I really make myself. I can.

Day 9~ P90X/Body by Vi Challenge

Day 9, otherwise known as Plytometrics Hell….. LOL

I am going to talk about food 1st today.  I had another toaster this morning. Then 2 corndogs for lunch. Plus I had some candy again. Must be that TOM even tho I don’t have a TOM. I still tend to crave sweet stuff & break out. O well..

I am going to have a Body by Vi shake for supper. My goal for tomorrow is to drink either 3 or 4 shakes & that’s it. It’s a sort of cleanse day for me. Yum, yum. I actually love my Body by Vi shakes. They taste like cake. Some of you may be wondering why i am not drinking shakeology since I’m doing a Beachbody workout. Well, let me tell you why…and I actually have a box of shakeology(chocolate) in the kitchen cupboard. If anyone happens to be interested in buying it please email me(your_girl_amy@yahoo.com)  Anyway, back to why I am not drinking that. I think shakeology is gross. I cannot drink it unless I mix it with coffee. I’ve tried the vanilla almond milk like I mix with my cake shakes, it was still yuck to me. Some people swear by shakeology, but it just isn’t for me.

Now let’s talk about Plyometrics, otherwise known as jump training as Tony Horton always says.  I really enjoy this workout because it’s so high impact & fast moving. However, I completely expect to wake up tomorrow & barely be able to move. Maybe it will be a little better than last week. Let’s hope, cross your fingers for me.

I am completely drenched by the end of this workout & have to go to the shower immediately. Gross, right. I bet I smell real nice too…. Good thing the only person here to see me was my daughter. My face was bright red, I was so hot.

Thinking I need to start adding some cardio on the days I do the weight training. Hmmmm….. I am completely going to the store tomorrow & looking into buying some sports bras. Otherwise, I’m gonna hurt myself.

I want results like this. Completely what I’m aiming for. This is a picture of someone who did the Body by Vi 90 day challenge. Yes, she worked out, but it wasn’t P90X. I am the 1st person to combine the 2 that I know of.

 

 

 

 

 

 

I almost forgot to mention that I took some measurements last night & I lost a 1/2 inch from my waist in the last week. Plus some on my thighs, just not full inches or 1/2 yet.

Day 8~ Week 2 P90X/Body by Vi Challenge

Today is Chest & Back plus Ab Ripper.

It’s 8:53 & I just got finished. So no excuses. If you want to get healthy & in better shape…you can do it!!!

Today, I was a ton better at the pushups! Excited about that. I did at least 10 everytime & I only sat 1 out- the decline ones. I did 20 on all the pull ups but I used the band b/c I do not have a chin up bar.

And I won’t lie…I still didn’t make it through all the Ab Ripper exercises :(  But I did my best.

Boy I’m sore now too. I don’t remember being this sore last Monday!

So now let’s talk food…..I ate a sausage, egg & cheese toaster sandwich for breakfast. Then I had a big salad at lunch. I was at work & ate some sour skittles with one of my patients. Then supper, I took my daughter to applebees so there went today. LOL. I have been craving a dang steak for a week so I finally ate one. I also had mushrooms, & some appetizer stuff. I was completely stuffed.

Now I did not drink any coffee today. I had lots of water & 2 raspberry teas at Applebees. then lots of water again at home while I worked out.

As of this morning when I weighed in, I had lost 1 pound from last week.

I took a photo of my stomach area this evening. I’m going to post it below. I have a before pic that was taken awhile back. I think I see differences, but what do ya’ll think? The first photo is the way before. The 2nd one is today.

Day 7~ P90X/Body by Vi Challenge

Wooooo…..I made it!!!! I made it!!!!!

Day 7= Kenpo for me since I already had a rest day when I was ill.

Kenpo was the easiest one for me. Crazy, huh.  The last workout was easy. So is that because I’ve been working my ass off all week or was it just easier?

I guess we will never know the answer to that. However, my feet were killing me tonight. Guess that’s from all those hours I’ve been working. When I hit the cool down, I took my shoes off.

This morning I ate 2 donuts for breakfast, then a salad for lunch & a cup if mac & cheese for supper. Coffee & water was all I’ve drank. Lots of water. I love those huge Smart waters. My favorite.

I know that my goal for this coming week  is to eat better. Plus to make it through all of my workouts of course.

I think the most important thing I’ve learned this week is I need sports bras….LOL

Day 6~ P90X/Body by Vi Challenge

Day 6= legs & back for me since I missed a day already this week. Tomorrow is Kenpo.

I am going to tell you right now sitting here just after finishing….I am drenched in sweat. I sweat the most during this workout. I’m not sure if the more I do, the more I sweat or what.  But I smell right now…. I am sure of it.

Also it is 11:08pm. For all of you out there who say they do not have time to do P90X or any workout…..you have to dedicate time & yourself. Commit to something & do it!

Almost forget to tell ya’ll that I skipped Ab ripper tonight. It’s late & I’m gonna be plenty sore already.

I worked a 16 hour shift today. Then went to a friends house to drop something off. Then came home & did my workout. And it’s Saturday night on top of all of that. If you want to get in shape & be healthy…well that is what you have to do sometimes. I knew when I started this that there would be nights when I would have to workout late. I am committed.

Now let’s talk about food & how I haven’t been so committed on that end.

I usually take a free day on the weekend. Well, today must have been it because I ate a sausage, egg & cheese biscuit for breakfast. Then I had a grilled chicken sandwich for lunch. Then for snack & supper tonight I had cookies, poptarts, & ice cream.   Bad, bad, bad.  I will be paying for that on the scale.  But I did have an awesome workout. And I didn’t drink anything other than 1 coffee & water today.  Giving up soda has never been a problem for me. I do probably need to slack off on the coffee some. One step at a time.

Hopefully next week I can eat more salads like I’m supposed to. That will be my goal for next week. I was told tonight that you can already tell I’m losing. We will see..

Day 5~ P90X/Body by Vi Challenge

Day 5= Yoga

Whoa….screw a bunch of yoga. LOL

So I was sweating….like as in actually really really sweating during this workout. Then it slowed down toward the end & I stopped.

 

 

So girls, you know those muscles that ache after having sex? Yup, I’m probably going to hurt there tomorrow without sex. Which may actually be sad…I haven’t decided yet.

This workout hurts my hands & wrists, however. To the point where I have to sit down some to shake them out. The balance & posing part is much easier on my hands. Tony Horton spends all that time telling you to let your mind empty & all that crap. Well, I might be able to accomplish that IF he’d stop talking to me. And, hello, I have to look up at the screen in order to know what to do.. Ugh

Today I am still sore in my legs from the plyometrics workout days ago. And my arms are sore from yesterday. One thing about P90X, it works the muscles it says it’s working. I will vouch for that! I know I will probably be sore all over again in the morning from all this super stretching. And it still hurts to go up & down the stairs, just not as bad.

Today I ate breakfast (a sausage, egg, & cheese mcgriddle), drank coffee with my breakfast. Then I drank two 1 liters of water.  I had 1 Body by Vi shake for lunch. I fully intended on having another shake for supper but my father’s Kiwanas group was having a fish fry so my mother & daughter brought me a fish basket while I was helping out at the gym. I did eat the fish & fries. I have had nothing other than the 1 coffee & water to drink today.

So all in all, it wasn’t a bad day.  I seem to do better if I have a shake for lunch & supper & actually eat breakfast. This is opposite of most other people, I know. I’m just usually really hungry first thing in the morning. If I drink a shake for breakfast, I’ve found that I’m really incredibly hungry by lunch. However, I really do need to start getting my salads in for lunch. Stuff to ponder….. Another thing I’ve figured out, I think I need a yoga mat…..
